Drs. Mark Ryser and Richard Shamo provide chemical peels to remove your old, damaged skin and replace it with newer skin for a more youthful appearance. Chemical peels can only be provided by doctors licensed exclusively through SkinCeuticals. Drs. Mark Ryser and Richard Shamo have completed additional training in order to provide this service at our office. We invite you to call Aspire Surgical at 801-487-3264 to learn more about chemical peels in Salt Lake City, Utah, and make your appointment with our doctors.
Chemical peels are a fairly simple procedure to perform. When you receive this treatment, our cosmetic surgeons will:
- Thoroughly wash and clean your skin.
- Apply one or more chemical solutions to small areas. These solutions may include glycolic acid, salicylic acid, lactic acid, trichloroacetic acid, or carbolic acid. These acids are safe for use, and our doctors and team will monitor you to avoid any potential complications or negative reactions.
- Create a controlled wound, which will “blister” and peel off.
- Newer, smoother, and less wrinkled skin will replace the older skin.
Chemical peels are an outpatient procedure. You will not need to stay at our practice overnight.
You may experience a slight burning sensation for 5-10 minutes, or a stinging sensation during your treatment. You can relieve this discomfort by applying cold compresses to your skin.
Remember that your skin will be hypersensitive to the sun following your treatment. We strongly recommend that you wear a broad-spectrum sunscreen (at least 30 SPF) daily until our doctors tell you otherwise. Limit your exposure to the sun, especially between the hours of 10 AM-2 PM.
To receive the best results from your treatment, our cosmetic surgeons recommend using the SkinCeuticals homecare regime after your procedure. We will also provide you with any additional post-treatment care instructions you may need.
